Activities Kids Can Do With Big Foam Blocks

Are you looking for a toy you can buy your kids that they can play with creatively and actively? Big foam blocks are a great choice. They come in multiple sizes, and some are large enough for kids to climb on. They tend to be soft and colorful, which makes kids love them right off the bat. So, if you buy these foam blocks for your kids, what sort of activities can they do with them? Here are a few suggestions.

Build Forts

Building forts is a favorite pastime of many kids. Your kids may currently use your couch cushions and other furniture for their forts. Of course, this is not great for the furniture, and it means you can't use your couch while the kids have the fort built. If you purchase foam blocks, your kids can instead use the blocks to build the fort. They can stack them to form walls on all four sides and then toss a blanket over the top as a roof. Your kids will have fun experimenting with different sizes and shapes.

Create Obstacle Courses

Do your kids enjoy challenging themselves physically and seeing what they're capable of doing athletically? If so, they may want to build an obstacle course with the foam blocks. They can set some up to climb over, others to crawl around, and so forth. Your kids and their friends might enjoy timing each other by going through a blocks obstacle course and seeing who can go the fastest.

Build Castles for Stuffed Animals

If your kids are a little younger, then they may want to use the foam blocks to build castles for their stuffed animals or dolls. You can buy some somewhat smaller foam blocks for this purpose, plus a few really large ones for the base. Some companies that make foam blocks even make ones shaped like pillars and spires, which can add to the castle theme.

Make Cars

Is your child interested in cars and vehicles? If so, they might enjoy using their foam blocks to create pretend cars. They can use a paper plate as a steering wheel and sit inside their pretend car, having adventures on the imaginary road. Kids have even built pretend tractors and trucks with big foam blocks.

Chances are, if you buy your kids a set of big foam blocks, they'll come up with a lot of their own, unique ways to play with them. Give them some of the ideas above for inspiration, but let them branch out from there.
